Snap2PDF privacy policy
Last updated 16 October 2026
The short version. Snap2PDF works entirely on your own computer. To make your PDF it handles the web page content you choose to capture, but only locally: nothing is uploaded, transmitted, sold or shared. It has no servers, no account, no analytics and no network code. Every screenshot and every PDF stays on your own computer.
What the extension does with page content
When you start a capture, Snap2PDF takes pictures of the part of the page you chose and assembles them into a PDF, which your browser then downloads to your computer in the normal way.
Those images exist only in your browser’s memory while you are capturing, and in the PDF file you save. They are never uploaded. The extension contains no code that sends anything to any server: there is no fetch, no XMLHttpRequest and no remote script anywhere in the package.
What is stored on your computer
Snap2PDF saves your own settings using Chrome’s local extension storage, so you do not have to set things up twice:
- image quality, sharpness and PDF page size;
- the capture box position and size, and the “click point”, for each website you have used it on (stored under that site’s hostname);
- auto-capture timings, the advance method and the repeat count;
- areas you explicitly saved with the “Save area” button.
This stays on your machine. The extension does not sync it anywhere and does not send it anywhere. Removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions, and why each exists
- activeTab: lets the extension act on the tab you are looking at, and only after you click its toolbar icon. It has no access to other tabs or sites.
- scripting: inserts the capture overlay and PDF builder into that tab.
- storage: keeps the settings listed above, locally.
- debugger: used only for two features: sharper 2×/3× capture, which re-renders the page at higher resolution so small text stays readable, and real clicks and keystrokes, so page-turn controls in e-book readers respond. In the Chrome Web Store version this permission is optional: it is off by default and requested only if you switch one of those features on, and you can withdraw it from the extension’s popup. In the version downloaded directly from chermistry.com it is built in. In both cases it is used solely on the tab you are capturing, and nothing it touches leaves your computer.
Snap2PDF requests no host permissions, so it has no standing access to any website.
Children
The extension is a general-purpose utility, sends nothing anywhere, and is not directed at children.
